A Look at Year One of Grace City Church's Vector Academy
Vector students in their own words on the 'Bible college,' a preview of what's to come and the cost for year two of the unaccredited program
Grace City Church’s Vector Academy inaugural class is approaching graduation, and the unaccredited “Bible college” is seeking new applicants for the fall.
And while students won’t earn credits that can transfer to any accredited college or university, they will have the opportunity to “build a house,” fight back against “cultural Marxism,” and “experience an insider’s tour of Disneyland,” according to GCC’s most recent mailer.
According to “church planter” and lead pastor Josh McPherson, the Vector Academy is the vision and dream of his father, Greg.
“25 years ago, I was hiking through the woods up the Icicle River with my dad and brother,” he wrote. “I’ll never forget what Dad said as we explored: ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if we started a Bible college one day?’”
After an introduction by McPherson, Vector Academy Executive Director Kyle McMullen gets into more detail about the curriculum by starting things off with the Washington State budget.
He questions the state’s priorities by comparing salmon and Orca recovery to abortion.
“The Washington State budget has had a proposed 1.1 billion dollar line item dedicated to salmon and orca recovery. That’s a lot of money,” he writes. “Consider also that Washington State is one of just a few US states that voluntarily provides public funding for abortions. What we have in this state is large amounts of government money going towards saving whale babies while simultaneously killing human babies.”
He goes on to write that some state funding “defies the Creator; and usurps the authority of God’s Word” as a part of a “cult of ‘Science.’”
McMullen proposes to fight this “cult of Science” with “the right kind of indoctrination.”
The kind of indoctrination you can get from the Vector Academy.
“At Vector Academy, we are devoted to teaching biblical doctrine. Ideas have consequences. As Christians, we judge our ideas, and all ideas, by the truth of God’s Word. To learn how to do this, we need the right kind of indoctrination, the kind that puts God’s truth into our minds and hearts so that we can grow in our love for him,” McMullen wrote.
