Depending on who you ask Mark Driscoll is one of the most famous, or infamous, MAGA pastors in America. He first made headlines in Seattle during the 2010s while he was at the helm of the now-defunct Mars Hill Megachurch.
He earned the ire of women everywhere by referring to them as “penis homes,” allegedly using church donor funds to buy up copies of his own book in order to fraudulently manipulate the New York Times bestseller list and became known as a bully and plagiarist. Eventually a group of 40 Mars Hill elders called for him to repent and submit to a restoration plan in order to rebuild trust and accountability, so Driscoll quit. Christianity Today produced an award-winning and comprehensive podcast about Driscoll’s time as a Seattle-based megachurch pastor. It’s called “The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill” and if you’re interested in that period of his life, I highly recommend it.
But what happened after Driscoll fled Seattle in disgrace?
