A Portrait of a Strongerman
Soliciting teens for nude photos/videos, dispensing investment advice and admitting to drinking while on call to perform surgery – an illuminating look at one Strongerman's online activity
When interacting anonymously online most folks are emboldened to say things they wouldn’t in person – and the local Grace City Church “Strongerman” who went by “Loud_Ebb_9294” on Reddit until recently is no different.
On a forum titled “r/teenagers,” one user wrote that her boyfriend only seemed to be interested in her for her body and asked if she should dump him.
“Can I see a picture? I’ll help you decide if you should get a reduction or not,” he wrote in the thread.
Reddit is a news aggregation, content rating and forum-based social media platform where anonymous users can connect via topics of interest and discuss them in niche communities called “subreddits.” Comments users find helpful or interesting can be “upvoted” and those that aren’t can be “downvoted.”
It’s the ninth most-visited website in the world, according to Similiarweb, and celebrities, athletes and other notable people engage with users on the platform in Reddit “AMAs,” which stand for “Ask Me Anything.”
Since the platform is designed to anonymize users it’s difficult to identify any given person interacting across the various forums on the site – unless that individual provides a lot of personal details.
In this Ebb’s case, he provided his age (38), educational and work history, details of the specific type of surgeries he currently performs at Central Washington Hospital, how much he makes per year ($200k), how much he owes on his home ($570k), how many kids he has and the make, model and year of most of the vehicles he owns.
He also confirmed that Grace City Church leaders gave away a firearm at their 2021 Strongermen Conference in Wenatchee, Washington.
“It was some cheap hunting rifle style .22 with a scope on top, not an AR-15 style,” he wrote.
In fact, many of his comments were on posts about Grace City Church. And many of his responses to other users’ criticisms of GCC were vulgar and combative.
In a thread about GCC Pastor Josh McPherson’s voting guide, Ebb had this to say:
On other threads he complained about abortion, trans people, homeless people, diversity, equity and inclusion policies, a former “psycho woman” supervisor he had to deal with, and asked multiple women for nude photos.
In another post in the “r/teenagers” subreddit, a user asked what makes a girl unattractive.
“Being fat,” he wrote.
He seemed to be drawn toward topics and threads about teen girls.
