Talking Grace City Church with The New Evangelicals
And a special announcement about my long-form piece that's been in the works for nearly two years
Popular Christian podcaster Tim Whitaker from The New Evangelicals Podcast had me on for an Instagram live interview this afternoon. We talked about Grace City Church’s origins and impact on the culture, government, politics, and spirituality of North Central Washington.
With nearly 90k followers on Tik Tok, 56k followers on Instagram, and more than 600,000 podcast downloads, The New Evangelicals is a brand with a large footprint in the Christian media space.
According to their website, “The New Evangelicals is an inclusive, Jesus-centered community that holds space for those marginalized by the evangelical church through building community, exploring faith and advocating for systemic change.”
I’ve been a follower and a fan of Tim’s work for a while now, and I’m honored and grateful to be invited on as a guest to talk about this issue.
During the interview, we talk about how I got onto this story, how GCC leaders have impacted local elections and government, the connection to the local militia and GCC leaders’ affinity for guns. We also talk about how my coverage of GCC led to my show on NCWlife being canceled and, of course, we talk about the money. From the 5000-plus square foot home GCC followers built for Pastor McPherson (with the help of public school students) to his exhortations to followers to “pay my bills” and the “Freedom Hills” real estate development – there’s a lot to talk about there.
I also make a special announcement about the long-form piece I’ve been working on for nearly two years, and the national publication planning to run it later this month.

Interesting fellow who has "been there-done that." Looking forward to your "long-term piece."
Very excited about this! Congratulations Dominick!
