After I published my first piece on Grace City Church about a year ago, I had many ex-Bethesda Christian Center members reach out to me. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at first. I’d heard of Bethesda a time or two but had no idea what GCC had to do with Bethesda.
Yet as I learned more about Larry Titus and Bethesda’s leadership structure – the focus on showmanship and music, tithing and giving (as well as male headship)- things became clearer.
So I started sitting down with former Bethesda members for interviews. When folks wanted to give me tapes and printed materials, I took them.
