When you hear the story of Isaac Aguigui you can’t help but draw parallels to Scott Peterson. Both men were found guilty of murdering their pregnant wives in the early 2010s. Yet while the world learned about Peterson’s grisly crimes on the nightly news for days and weeks on end – almost no one has heard of Aguigui.
It’s confounding because while Peterson was a private citizen who acted alone, Aguigui not only murdered his pregnant wife, but he also led a secret militia comprised of active-duty soldiers and used her death benefits to purchase guns and drugs while plotting to blow up dams in Washington state, poison apple crops and kill the president of the United States.
