While I generally bemoan complaints about people parking cars on public streets as it gives me strong anti-housing vibes (and is perfectly legal), what we have here is something completely different, and a somewhat unique for a public meeting format (at least from what I'm used to). As Maggie points out, GCC has repeatedly performed a bait and switch with their land and building use.

DebbieY said it well about about GCC's reach and I absolutely agree. There's enough people involved in local leadership that GCC will get what they want, and "training center" for children that gives me hella militia vibes. These poor children. It's still a small community and I've seen what a powerful group and name can do, as a third generation from the valley.

This church is so far gone from the bible it's laughable. What we have here is a Men's Rights Activist organization who doesn't pay taxes. Scripture is merely performative.

Great article Dominick. Thank you for keeping this problem relevant. It has been several years of dealing with these grifters and watching them do whatever they please. The next Vector Academy states another house will be built by the kids. I wonder who this will be for. I doubt it will be a homeless person.

This bait and switch tactic is typical of people who know how to work the system...a system in our community that has always given them privilege and favor, thus they believe they are entitled. As GCC grows, with the help from allies who enable this expectation of entitlement and privilege, (which at every opportunity GCC will claim as proof of God's support & blessing) their power of influence, instances and severity of abuse, harm and infringement of civil rights will increase. We know this is true; it is happening all over America as the rise of Christian Nationalism gains power. They seek to replace democracy with theocracy...that has been the plan for decades. Apathy, denial and ignoring religion in politics allows and supports their goal.

Well, members of the law enforcement community have told me about panic rooms and safes full of guns strategically placed around the compound. GCC leaders will not respond to my attempts to reach out to them about that or anything else for that matter.

Letting Wenatchee City Council know how you feel is a good start. Jose Cuevas, Linda Herald and Travis Hornsby were all involved in Pastor Josh McPherson's lawsuit against the governor over public health mandates during the height of the Covid pandemic. I tried reaching out to Hornsby and Cuevas to ask about that, but they stonewalled me.

What’s the story with the previous contractor and the $3.5 million?

So. Are we about to see how far gcc's tentacles go into local govt? Surprised there werent complaints on law enforcement exercises, including firearms.

This is why guns are so popular with "Christians" . They are the minority...they will use them if necessary to win the battle over who controls America. It may sound alarmist, but considering the current political climate, the rise of Christian Nationalism & fascism; the religious prejudice influencing SCOTUS decisions, and other frightening changes in our country since Trump was elected...I don't think it is farfetched at all.
