Thank you for making sure this story keeps seeing the light of day. What a tragedy when the Hines were ready to parent this child. I am sorry to read of new legislation that worsens this issue for the child.

Love your writing style, Dominick. No embellishment, understandable. Prayers for Oakley.

This story is wrenching. As a society, we should not worship at the altar of reunification of biological families at the expense of common sense.

I'm not sure I see the connection here between Oakley's case and House Bill 1227. Children have been historically separated from their families for sole reasons that they were poor, houseless, disabled, weighed "too much", Indigenous, etc. Is drug use a protected circumstance in HB 1227, or are people jumping to conclusions based on the sole reasons listed?

Monsters. Thank you for pursuing this tragic story, Dominick. With your beautiful family, I know this is a hard story to work.
