I'm certainly not happy to learn $100,000 was spent on some of the vost for a Feasibility Study for the proposed Aquatic/Sports Complex in Douglas County.

Thank you Dorothy Ferguson for sharing your concerns. My brother and I were wondering why the PFD board would be giving tax payers money to another potential taxing facility. These tax funded facilities feed off each other and the board members should be more accountable for how our tax dollars are spent!

Is the Cashmere museum a “public” museum? I heard long ago that it never got status as a museum that received public or government funds because so many Native American artifacts displayed there were appropriated. I heard this a long time ago, from an anthropologist who worked for the Colville tribes.

Oh wow, I have never heard that. According to the website, it is a 501c3 nonprofit. I'll ask about the artifact thing.

Ask them if they receive/accept any federal, state, or local funding! That would be telling I think.

Yet another example of the same elected officials...mayors, commissioners, councilmembers...making ALL the local decisions. They have all the power in our communities. It is in my mind a conflict of interest to appoint themselves to committees and boards etc that they likely created in the first place! Exactly WHEN do the citizens decide how tax revenue is spent?

I'm late to the show here, wasn't aware of Dominic's great investigations. As a frequent user of TTC in many capacities, it seems to me that while all the members of the board are 'tax paying' there are no 'normal tax-paying residents' on the board as a counter. All of this group have many pots of money they manage and they seem to think the TTC pot is one they can pull from so they don't use another. They need to pay off the debt first and foremost, as this place is going to need a refurbishment before the debt is even paid.
