My child is trans. The behavior of these people is why being the parent of a trans youth is terrifying. It doesn't matter how blue our state is, there are people in our communities who wish to do our CHILDREN harm simply for existing and wanting the same opportunities as everyone else.

I acknowledge the trans athlete issue is a quagmire. We're talking about an 8th grader, not an adult who has been training for years. How much of an advantage does a male 13-14 year old have over a female in actual reality? People need to get a grip. No one is crying about trans boys. It's always the women who are the targets.

I wanted a better world for my kids than this.....

Couldn't agree more with your two cents. This problem will not be worked out overnight. This type of social issue could take years. In the meantime people need to stop acting like animals and using these first pioneers as punching bags.

I have been called a dyed in the wool libtard. That is probably not far from the truth. I believe I understand why a male trans athlete competing against other males is not such an issue. The trans person is not such a significant threat (usually), IMHO w/a female (generically less muscular) undercarriage to the other males. However, a trans female competing against other females, IMHO will probably have an "unfair" advantage with their male (generically more muscular) undercarriage.

That some folks express their "displeasure" in such a hateful and destructive manner sadly appears to be par for the course with far too many right leaning, supposedly Christians; U know, followers of Jesus. We are early into openly recognizing and dealing with the rights of all concerned here. The need for open, free and respectful discussion by rational human beings will eventually lead to how to remedy the current situation. I don't believe that's too progressive a suggestion.

My question first starts with how did they know? There are some women born with a very masculine build. What happens now? Are parents or coaches allowed to determine who is feminine enough to be female? Are all students expected to share their genitalia to confirm themselves? Let people compete for the joy of competition.

I must admit, I just don't know how to think about this issue. Yes, I support trans youth and their struggle to become themselves and compete in sports in a fair and equitable way. Could there, perhaps, be a "trans" category for sports competitions? I don't have the answer for this, but am interested in being a part of the solution, which may be in transition itself.

This scares me, incites violence against children.
