Crowd Gathers To Protest Trump Immigration Policies, ICE arrests

Folks gathered said they were 'disgusted' with President Donald Trump's executive orders and want immigration reform

More than 150 people gathered at Memorial Park in Wenatchee on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 2 to protest President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids and arrests.

I spoke with the organizer of the protest and some of the participants and you can watch that video above.

Alejandra, the young woman who organized it, said this is the first protest she’d ever been too let alone organized, and she did so with the help of her sister. The reason is because she wants people to know that immigrants aren’t all criminals – they are hard working people just trying to put food on the table.

A man named Zach said he decided to attend because he’s “disgusted” with what has been happening during the opening days of Trump’s second administration and he and his family won’t be personally affected they wanted to show solidarity for immigrants in our community.

Wenatchee for Immigrant Justice helped organize the event and once word hit the local Facebook group “Wenatchee Valley Community, Crime, Rants and Raves” on Saturday comments both for and against the event exploded.

Some started planning a counter-protest, but it didn’t materialize.
