Epoch Gaming Lounge in downtown Wenatchee had a full house on Sunday, Sept. 22 for the Diva Drag Brunch event organized by OUT NCW.
I was invited to cover the event and interview some of the performers. Never wanting to miss an opportunity to talk to interesting people, I took the organizers up on their offer and headed downtown on Sunday morning.
Of the four queens I interviewed, one is local, and all travel and perform putting on Diva Drag Brunch events across the Pacific Northwest.
I asked them why they became drag queens, why their brand of performance art is important in rural America, and what advice they would give to themselves ten years ago.
I’ve found that the last question yields interesting responses no matter who you’re interviewing.
You can watch those short interviews in the video embedded above. I’d like to thank the folks at OUT NCW for the invitation, and Valentina Veneno, Lavina Richards, Miss Jaxson and Aspen Meadows for speaking with me.
