NCW Libraries Board Tables Display Policy Debate, Takes Up Flag Policy Discussion

In trying to get the Pride flag removed from their library, a small group of citizens in Republic have the NCW Libraries board reconsidering policies that will affect libraries across the region

Claiming the display of the Pride flag at her local library advances the “Trans/LGBTQ agenda,” which is a pedophilic attempt to sexually groom children, Ferry County resident Carolann Gutierrez and her compatriots for the second month made big waves at the NCW Libraries board of directors meeting.

While taking aim at the Republic librarian and their sexual orientation during public comments time at the beginning of the public meeting on Jan. 16, Gutierrez and Rosemary Godwin claimed to be the victims of “discrimination” themselves.

“The librarian’s political orientation and sexual preference are the primary focus – to the exclusion of other viewpoints,” Godwin said.

Gutierrez’s argument rested largely upon the claim that “98%” of Republic residents are heterosexual, and since they are heterosexual they agree with her point of view. In her mind the majority should dictate what flags are displayed.

Because the librarian is a member of a minority group they cannot “gauge” what the majority needs.

During her statement she went a step further than Godwin by calling out the branch librarian by name multiple times.

“Jazz definitely does not have the gauge of the majority of Republic citizens. She stated that she would rather have 100 complaints about the gay Pride flags if one person felt safe. How is this equitable?” she said. “There are over 100 children in Republic who are not allowed to visit the library because of the LGBTQ agenda. This is unacceptable. And it tells the public taxpayers who fund this library: ‘We at the library can do whatever we want and the public can be damned.’”
